As of April 19, 2020, a new PG&E rule offers a substantial savings opportunity for CSDA Member districts. In March 2021, PG&E’s new TOU periods will automatically go into effect. Before this mandatory change happens, Districts have the option to select either the existing TOU rate structure, or the new TOU rate structure. Most Districts are not aware of this one-time opportunity, which hasn’t been available in the last 40 years, and won’t be available after March 2021. By properly analyzing detailed interval data for each account, customers can identify which accounts will benefit from rate changes, and more importantly, precisely when the changes should be made to maximize savings. While these savings are short-term (i.e., only through March 2021), they can be substantial. Utility Cost Management LLC (UCM) will discuss how Districts can obtain these savings by analyzing and implementing the available options.
